The problem

Most local businesses are running their reputation blind.

You have hundreds of reviews, one number on a map, and no practical way to see what is actually driving it.

01

You hear about the bad one last.

It goes live, it gets indexed, and it sits near the top of your profile while you are still on the floor. By the time someone forwards it to you, the customers who were deciding tonight have already read it.

02

The pattern is buried in 800 reviews.

Somewhere in there is the shift that keeps going wrong, the dish that keeps disappointing, and the person your customers keep thanking by name. Nobody has the hours to read it all and tag it by hand.

03

Your competitor is pulling ahead quietly.

The place two doors down collected 25 reviews last month. You have no idea whether you collected more or fewer, because checking means opening every listing one by one, every week.

04

Asking for reviews barely moves it.

Once you have volume, each new review is a rounding error, and each bad one is not. Most owners never see that arithmetic, so they keep pouring effort into the lever that moves least.

One new 5 star review: +0.0008.
One new 1 star review: −0.0039.

A real profile sitting at 4.3 across 842 reviews. A single bad review costs roughly five good ones, and it never expires. That is the maths every local business is quietly losing to.

How it works

Connected in minutes, useful on day one.

01

Connect your listing

Paste your Google Maps link. Read only, no passwords, no changes to your profile. Your review history imports within minutes.

02

We read every review for you

AI tags staff names, dishes and services, themes, sentiment and likely policy violations, then turns the pattern into a short list of suggestions.

03

You act on it

Route unhappy customers to a private form, get alerted the second a bad review lands, compare yourself to your street, and brief your team with evidence.

Collect feedback · Smart QR routing

Catch the complaint while they are still in the room.

A permanent QR code on the table, the counter, the receipt or the invoice. Customers tap a star before they ever reach Google. Happy ones go straight to your listing. Unhappy ones land on a private form that reaches you in seconds.

Everything below your threshold takes the same private route and never touches your public rating. The only difference lower down is urgency: a one star fires an urgent alert so you can reach them the same day.

  • Set your own threshold. Divert 1 to 3 stars, or only 1 star, whichever suits your business.
  • Brand all of it. Your logo, colours, headline and message on the printed card and the rating page.
  • Offer a coupon in return. Private feedback earns a discount code, so an unhappy customer leaves with a reason to come back.
  • Capture the contact. Guests can leave a name and number, turning a walkout into a recovery call.
  • Print once. The code is permanent. Reprint freely, it never changes.

The public option never disappears. A link to your Google listing stays visible on the private page, so every customer keeps the choice. Staranker does not buy, write or incentivise public reviews, and coupons are attached to private feedback only.

Market intelligence

See exactly where you sit on your own street.

Track the competitors you actually lose customers to. Staranker re-checks their listings every week and shows you who is winning the reviews that matter in your postcode.

  • Share of new reviews. What percentage of every review left in your market this month landed on you.
  • Momentum, not just rating. A rival at 4.1 climbing fast is a bigger threat than one sitting still at 4.6.
  • Themes benchmarked against your category. Not a generic average. You are compared inside the category you actually trade in, down to the sub type, with a positive sentiment percentage per theme and the gap in points.
  • The evidence behind every theme. Verbatim quotes with the reviewer, the star rating, which business it was left on and when, so a benchmark is never just a number you have to trust.
  • Where to win next. A ranked set of moves built from the gaps: close the value gap, fix Saturday dinner pacing, lean on the attribute you already dominate, plus the trends rising in your area before your rivals notice them.
  • A snapshot you can send. One shareable view for the owner, the franchisor or the Monday meeting.

Two competitor slots are included on Pro. Add more for $6 a month each.

The marker is the benchmark for your category in your area. The gap is what the next move is built from.

Staff and menu insights

Your reviews already name your best people.

Customers write the names down. They mention the server who fixed it, the dish that was worth the drive, the technician who explained the invoice. AI pulls every verified mention out of your reviews and sorts it by sentiment.

  • A leaderboard your team cares about. Who gets named, how often, and in what tone. Put it on the staff room wall.
  • Coaching signals, with the quote. When someone appears in complaints, you get the evidence, not a hunch.
  • A menu ranked by customers. Which dishes or services drive 5 star reviews, and which quietly drag you down.
  • Evidence for real decisions. Rosters, training, pricing and menu changes backed by what customers actually wrote.

Alerts and rapid response

The moment a one star lands, you know.

Every review in one inbox, newest first, with the high impact ones flagged and the likely policy violations marked for removal. The window to reply, recover or challenge is measured in hours, not weeks.

  • Instant email alerts the moment a negative review appears, so you respond while it still counts.
  • A Monday brief covering the week: new reviews, rating movement, themes rising, competitor shifts.
  • Policy flags. Reviews that look like they breach Google's content rules are marked, with removal one click away.
  • Policy evidence attached. When a review looks removable, the flag arrives with the reason and the quote, ready to send to a specialist.

AI signals and suggestions

It does not just show you the reviews. It tells you what to do about them.

Every review that comes in is read, grouped and compared with the months before it. What comes back is not another dashboard to interpret. It is a short list of what is changing, what is working, and the one or two things worth fixing this week.

What a venue sees after a month of reviews Example output
Theme rising

Wait times are becoming the story.

Named in 14 of the last 40 reviews against 3 the month before, and almost all of them on a Friday or Saturday evening.

Do this: staff the weekend dinner service differently, and set the expectation at seating.

Quick win

11 four star reviews have no reply.

Four star reviewers are the most persuadable group you have, and your replies are public, dated and read by the next customer deciding.

Do this: answer these before anything else, oldest first.

What is working

The slow roast lamb is carrying the menu.

Named in 22 five star reviews this quarter, more than any other dish, and usually in the first sentence rather than the last.

Do this: move it up the menu, put it in the window, brief the floor to recommend it.

Watch

Two reviews describe the same booking fault.

Both mention being confirmed for a time that was not available. Different customers, eight days apart, so it is unlikely to be user error.

Do this: check the booking calendar sync before it turns into a pattern.

What the signals cover

  • Emerging themes. What is being mentioned more than it was last month, and what has quietly gone away.
  • Sentiment by subject. Speed, service, price, cleanliness, communication and quality each tracked on their own, so a dip in one is not hidden by strength in another.
  • Response gaps. Which reviews are still unanswered, and which of them are actually worth answering first.
  • Policy flags. Language that suggests a review breaks Google's content rules, routed straight to removal.
  • A weekly priority. The one or two moves with the most upside this week, not a list of forty things you will never get to.

Included on the free plan

Review analysis and suggested actions are on every plan, the free one included. Connect a listing, import your history, and you get your first set of signals the same day without paying anything. Pro adds the deeper cuts: sentiment tracked by subject across months, emerging themes over time, and the signals that compare you with the competitors you track.

These are suggestions, not instructions. The analysis reads what your customers wrote and tells you what it found. It can be wrong, and it will say when a signal is thin. Treat it as the thing worth checking on Monday, not a verdict, especially where a review names a person.

Rating calculator

Work out what it actually takes to move your score.

Google publishes your rating as the plain arithmetic mean of every published rating, rounded to one decimal place. No recency weighting, no forgiveness for the unfair ones. Put your own numbers in.

Policy violation removal

Some reviews are not reviews at all.

Fake engagement from accounts that were never customers. A competitor or a former employee settling a score. A rant about a delivery driver you do not employ. Personal information, harassment, extortion attempts. Google publishes content policies for all of it, and reviews that break them can be taken down.

We build the case and file it through Google's own channels. Your flagged reviews are checked first, free, and we tell you which ones have a real case before you pay anything.

What we will not do

We do not remove a genuine customer's honest bad experience. Nobody can, and anyone who tells you otherwise is either taking your money or doing something to your listing you will regret. We check first and say so plainly when there is no case.

Questions

The things owners ask first.

How often does Staranker check my reviews?

Your own listing is synced on a recurring schedule through our scraping pipeline, so new reviews usually surface within a day of being posted. Tracked competitor listings refresh weekly, which is the right cadence for spotting momentum without drowning you in noise.

Do you need access to my Google account?

No. We never ask for passwords, account access or ownership of your profile. Everything Staranker reads is already public on your listing, and nothing we do changes it. You can connect in under a minute and disconnect just as fast.

How does the QR code actually redirect a guest?

The guest scans your printed card and lands on a branded rating page with five stars and nothing else to do. If they tap at or above your chosen threshold, they go straight to your Google review box with the rating ready to submit. If they tap below it, they land on your private feedback form, you get an email within seconds, and they are offered a coupon for the trouble. The link to your Google listing stays visible on that page either way.

Is any of this against Google's rules?

Staranker never blocks anyone from posting publicly, which is the line that matters. Every customer can reach your listing from the private page. We do not buy, write or incentivise public reviews, and coupon rewards are attached to private feedback only, never to a public rating. For removals, we work exclusively through the reporting channels Google publishes, against the content policies Google publishes.

How good are the AI suggestions?

Good enough to be the first thing you read on a Monday, not good enough to follow without thinking. The analysis reads what your customers actually wrote, groups it, compares it with previous months and tells you what stands out. It can be wrong, it will tell you when a signal is based on only a handful of reviews, and every suggestion links back to the reviews behind it so you can check. Be particularly careful with anything that names a staff member: treat it as a conversation to have, not a conclusion.

How do the alerts arrive, and how fast?

Negative review alerts and private feedback notifications go out by email through our transactional email provider, normally within seconds of the trigger. The weekly business brief arrives Monday morning, with the themes that moved, the reviews still waiting on a reply and the one or two things worth doing that week.

Can I track more than one location?

Yes. Pricing is per business listing, so a second venue is a second connection at the same rate. Multi site operators usually run one Pro subscription per location and compare them side by side.

What if I want to cancel?

Cancel from the dashboard at any time. There is no contract and no exit fee. Pro stays active until the end of the period you have paid for, then your account drops back to the Free plan rather than disappearing, so your QR code and your review history keep working.

What happens to my data?

Your review data is yours. It comes from your public listing, it stays tied to your account, and we do not sell it or share it with other businesses. Private feedback submitted through your QR page is visible only to you.
